Buckeye Yard was a major classification yard built near Columbus, Ohio by Penn Central to handle most freight traffic terminating in the State. Buckeye fell under the control of Conrail in 1976 and eventually Norfolk Southern in 1999. Norfolk Southern shut down hump operations in the late 2000s and eventually closed the yard entirely by 2020. The yard was demolished and the properties were sold by the end of 2022. This map shows a general layout of the yard under Conrail ownership, from 1976 to 1999.
